Welcome To First Baptist Church of Lamar

April 6,2020

My devotion today comes from Psalm 33:4-7 “I sought the Lord, and he answered me and rescued me from all my fears.  Those who look to him are radiant with joy; their faces will never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him from all his troubles.  The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and rescues them.” COVID-19 is not the first pandemic to afflict God’s people and unless Jesus comes soon, it probably will not be the last.  What this Psalm states is we can rest assured that God will hear us and rescue us. He surrounds those who fear him. Our part in all this is to faithfully seek the Lord and call out to Him.

Monday, April 6, 2020, the Governor has issued a stay-at-home order beginning this morning and runs through Friday, April 24, 2020.  “This order explicitly states that individuals currently residing within the state of Missouri shall avoid leaving their homes or places of residence unless necessary.”  This order does not prohibit Missourians from accessing essential services and he gives a lengthy listing of those services, one of which is places of worship.

As an essential service, our church office is functioning on an at-need-basis.  The Northeast doors are unlocked for your convenience to deposit your offering in the secure box in the entrance.  We are here to receive your calls and to minister to whatever need you may have. We are also planning a Drive-In worship service for Easter Sunday morning at 11:00. Details and directions are coming.  Please watch the Facebook page and this website for more information.
